Water Quality

The facility will need up to 400 gallons of water/minute (576,000 gallons of water/hour) for cooling, pumped from the Hoosic River, and when the river water is not available, from an underground aquifer that supplies water to the Pownal Water District. Concerns about water supply and its impact on private and public water wells have been raised, despite the developer’s reassurances.
